JJ#13 Describe getting a Christmas tree as a child, when did you put it up and decorate it?

Well as a child we had a fake tree. Every the day after Thanksgiving we would put the tree up.We had so many home made ornaments, the beaded kind. My great aunt Melba had made by had. My favorite was the picture frames that she had mad for each of the grandchildren. She put pictures in them of us in them, and mine is the only one that is different. Everyone else had red and silver, or green and silver, but mine is gold and silver.
My family has always been into the multi colored lights. As a child I can remember laying down by the heater vent (right behind the front door) , and just feeling peaceful watching the lights twinkle. That was a great feeling. Nothing in the world mattered.
When I was older and worked at Mac's Hobbies and Crafts, I bought my own tree the Christmas right before I got married. I love the clear lights. I was so proud of myself. I had red,black and gold ribbon that I had made bows with, and had bought little Teddy bears, along with clear ornaments. I loved it. Still to this day I have clear lights on my tree. It feels more elegant to me.
We still put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving. If I had my way, I would put it up early November.
