WOW! Where does the time go?
Christmas is almost here and I am so excited this year. I love putting up the tree and the lights. This year we bought a new tree and all the kids help put the lights and decorations on it. We had a family night and made treats for all of our friends and neighbors and had a ball. While we were making our treats we talked to the kids and asked them what Christmas was about? My little Mary says Jesus, Lili says it's not about the gifts it's Jesus Birthday. I have taught my kids that it is not about the gifts. Its about memories and family and Jesus.
When I was a little girl, I lived with my grandparents. My grandma was a cook at the school. I can remember one year she kept talking about this little boy who would come to school with out having breakfast, and he would show up in the freezing cold with out a coat. My grandma along with some of the other cooks would feed and cloth him. That year my grandparetns provided Christmas for that little boy and his brother. What a great feeling. I can remember being so excited to drop the bags of toys and clothes off at his house.
For the last couple of years we have made a tradition with the Redd family. We pick a family from one of our wards that needs help, and we all go shopping and pick gifts. We then wrap them as a family. This has become one of my favorite traditons. I love teaching my kids that it is good to help others.
I hope that all of you have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS. And remember the REASON FOR THE SEASON.
