So Sunday we attended a baby blessing. It was fast and testimony meeting. A young man got up and told us of an experience he had at work. He works at the prison and how he was working with an inmate and all the sudden it hit him that Heavenly Father loved that inmate just as much as he loved him.
So I was telling this to my grandma and she asked me if I believed it. I said Yes! She said You are telling me that Heavenly Father loves those little children in africa as much as he loves us. I said yes. She says then why does he allow them to suffer like they do? So I said to her Grandma just because some of us have trials that are worse than others doesn't mean that Heavenly Father loves us differently. He does love all of us the same. He doesn't judge any of us he loves us with open arms. He hurts for thoes who are hurting. We all have our own trials that we need to go through that is what makes us the person we need to become.
So if any of you have any advise or have a commment please let me know your thoughts.

I personaly don't think that trials are punishments. Although this last year with Ethan has been the most difficult that I have ever faced, it is also the year that I have felt the most blessed and the closest to my Heavenly Father. So really, who is to say that our trials are really not blessings? I don't feel punished or slighted because my child was not born "perfect". I am blessed because he entrusted me with such a choice son. I think that our Heavenly Father mourns those that make poor choices in life and therefore create there own sorrow and consequences. But I believe that this is independent and seperate from the imense love that our Heavenly Father feels for each of us. If there is one thing I have learned through my experiences with Ethan, is that our Heavenly Father KNOWS us PERSONALLY and knows our strengths and weaknesses. He is there for each of us and His love surrounds us. We just need to slow down and take the time to be greatful for all of the things we have been blessed with. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I agree with your friend Allison. Our trials aren't punishments. Besides each person's trials are tailor made just for him or her. The "kids in Africa" are there, enduring their trials, the same as we are here. They might look at us and think "man, I'm grateful I don't have everything they have or I wouldn't have the privelage of being so close to my family" Who knows -but I do know that we are all loved - just like you said - and that we all have our hard times, but we are given these to see how well we endure them and because our Heavenly Father knows that these things will make us stronger! WE LOVE YA!!

I don't think trials are "inflicted" by Heavenly Father. Remember, Satan is on the earth and working hard. We all have burdens to bear so that we become HUMBLE enough to ask Father for help. We must realize we can NOT do it alone. And only through these measures can we become like Christ.
