True Greatness---------------------------------------------------
"There are some among us who are unhappy with their lives because they have wanted to achieve a measure of greatness in this life but now feel they have failed in some fundamental way. . . ."[Joseph F.Smith wrote:] 'Those things which we call extraordinary, remarkable, or unusual may make history, but they do not make reallife." 'After all, to do well those things which God ordainedto be the common lot of all mankind, is the truest greatness. To be a successful father or a successful mother is greater than to be a successful general or a successful statesman.' (Juvenile Instructor, 15 Dec. 1905,p. 752.) . . ."True greatness is never a result of a chance occurrence or a one-time effort or achievement. It requires the development of character. It requires a multitude of correct decisions forthe everyday choices between good and evil."

I opened up my LDS Gems and found this quote. As you can see I liked it. All I want to know is that I am a great in my childrens eyes. I honestly don't care what people think about me. My son came to me the other day and said "Mom Maddy thinks you and dad are the most responsible parents out of all of our friends." I asked him why, and he said " Well you never let me do anything." Not that that makes me feel good, but I don't follow the crowd. I want my kids to know there are just some things they will never be allowed to do while living in my house. I always have to know where they are who is with them and what they are doing. If I don't like what or who or where they don't go. My kids know pretty much not to even ask some questions.
My kids also know that I enjoy being with them, like when school is out. I love to see them and hang out. I enjoy having their friends over. I like them to hang out at my house because I know what they are doing at all times. There has only been two times that I wasn't aware of what was going on. One time a cop showed up and asked me if I was aware that a kid was on my neighbors roof, and the other time was about two weeks ago, I had a bad tooth ache.I sent Josh over to my grandmas to get some pills. I went to lay down and told Josh I wasn't feeling good. He had brougt a boy home that I wasn't to fond of, but I thought well there at my house if should be ok. Any way I was laying down when I got a phone call from my grandma. She was upset because Josh smelled like gas, and she overherd him and his friend saying something about matches. So I called Josh in and he did smell. When asked why he smelled like gas he chose not to tell the truth so I sent the friends home and he got his butt handed to him. Those are the only two times I have been out of it. I want my kids to know that they are always welcome at our house with friends.
